United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 20th May as World Bee Day.
The purpose of this International Day is to acknowledge the role of bees and other pollinators (such as butterflies, birds and bats) for the ecosystem. They allow plants and food crops to reproduce. They help ensure the abundance of fruits and their variety which is very important for human nutrition.
The most important pollinators are bees. Caring for bees and other pollinators is part of the fight against World Hunger.
Many Sustainable Development Goals such as “Ending World Hunger” and preserving and restoring terrestrial Ecosystem will no longer be attainable if we do not care for Bees and pollinators.
