“Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” is the theme for IWD 2022.
Advancing gender equality in the context of the climate crisis is one of the greatest challenges of this century.
To empower women and girls to participate in decision-making related to climate change is fundamental for sustainable development.
The theme for IWD, which is aligned with the theme of the 66th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66) “Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and program”, will be discussed at a virtual event today, 8th March 2022, in which the Secretary General of the UN, the President of the General Assembly, the Chair of the Commission on the Status of Women, the Executive Director of UN Women will participate.
