UN International Volunteers Day

December 5th 2021

International Volunteers Day, designated by the UN General

Assembly in 1985, is celebrated each year on December 5th to raise awareness on the important role volunteers play among their communities across the world and to recognize and promote their tireless work.

This year’s theme is “Volunteer now for our common future” to help build a better future for all.

Every day volunteers dedicate time and effort to ensuring inclusion of those left behind and advance the Sustainable Development.

Volunteering is commitment, engagement, solidarity, compassion, giving, sharing, standing by others and creating a better future for everyone.

Inner Wheel is one of the largest women’s service organizations active in more than 100 countries and is structured in Clubs, Districts and National Governing Bodies.

Personal service is a top priority and members carry out projects in their local communities and not only.

Margarette Golding, the Founder, started the movement in 1924 and the centenary year will be celebrated in 2024.
