It was really heart-warming to see our Inner Wheel members from District 317 in India who donated 25 sewing machines to District 350, Nepal, to empower women in need and to enable them to be self-reliant.
District 350 collaborated with Sahayogi Haat Haru (Helping Hands) which has been helping cancer survivors for quite some time. Together, they have set up the training centre, Pragati (meaning, Progress) in Budhanagar, Kathmandu to conduct training.
The first batch of trainees was a group of ladies who are cancer survivors. The first training on designing embroidery has been successfully completed. We hope to conduct more such trainings in future. Ratna Behere, District 317 Chairman, has kindly assured us of technical assistance, if need be! Madam Ratna Behere and District 350 Chairman Gyanu Shrestha co-ordinated and worked tirelessly to make this project implemented in time for the District 350 conference on 3 March 2022. Kudos to their dedication and perseverance!
Both Districts 317 in India and District 350 in Nepal, had a joint webinar titled Khwaahish-E-Parwaaj, organised by District 317 via Zoom and participated by members from India and Nepal. The chief guest was National Representative and Association President of the Inner Wheel Clubs in India, Saroj Katiyar, the guest of honour was National Representative Suni Joshi of Nepal. Another guest of honour was Vandana Gupte, a renown Indian actress. It was a wonderful webinar of fellowship among many IW friends from both the neighbouring countries!
