Christmas bazaar in Albania

The Inner Wheel Club of Korca in Albania is a non-districted club. There are 44 very active and united members. Club President Ilda Scendi and her Executive Committee have planned their activities inspired by this year’s theme of “Pink First”. Their activities are aimed at adults, children and single women who lack economic opportunities and are from deprived backgrounds.

Some of their planned activities are:

  • A musical performance by children in an adult care home – Korca.
  • Preparation and distribution of food packages for ladies living alone and in financial hardship.
  • Walk-in or appointments with psychologists and doctors or members of the club for mothers and children in the village of Rembec. These women are victims of domestic violence. The children are subject to malnutrition, etc. The Club has collaborated with the teacher of these children in supporting them (albeit, subject to Covid restrictions).

In the spirit of Inner Wheel, in order to service those in need, the Club members organised their first fundraising campaign. Every member had prepared homemade items and added monetary donations, which made the campaign a great success.

They gathered to prepare the items on 7 December at a charming studio with much love, joy and motivation. The ladies prepared lavender aroma-filled bags for cars, 2 types of jarred jams, 3 types of Christmas cookies, and greeting cards for the holidays. Funds were raised by the sale of these items.

Club President Ilda had also organised a gathering with the second non-districted club in Albania, the Inner Wheel Club of Tirana. The meeting of these two clubs was held in Hotel “Kotoni” in Tirana. Club President Tirana Evis Vasili and the members supported the Korca club project by purchasing the items.

The fundraising activities are still continuing with businesses at Korca.
