Reunion & Madagascar (D920) Celebrates International Day of Peace

On 21 September 2021, District 920 coordinated celebrations of International Day of Peace with the Inner Wheel clubs of Reunion Island.

Weeks before the event, the clubs invited children from different schools to express themselves about their own interpretation of peace through drawings, poems and messages.

On the day of the event, District Chairman Régine Fock Lapp and members from clubs of Reunion Island met at a multimedia library located in the East of the island to view an exhibition of the children’s drawings as well as artists’ paintings on the theme of peace.

The children were invited to read their messages of HOPE and sing songs of PEACE.

Etched in the minds of all who attended were the final message from these children who stated loud and clear:

“Children are seeds of Peace”.

Meanwhile, in Madagascar, members of the Inner Wheel club of Antananarivo released balloons to the sky with messages of HOPE and PEACE.

Children, the future of peace: Taking a child by the hand is already peace.

Children, the future of peace: Taking a child by the hand is already peace.
