President Janet welcomed members of The Inner Wheel Club of Warsop and District Officers from District 22, including District Chairman Jacquie Chapman and The President of The Rotary Club of Warsop, Shirebrook and District, Geoff Milnes, to their 49th Charter Celebrations at The Hostess Restaurant.
Immediate Past President Ann Holland lit the candle to the past, President Janet lit the candle to the present and one of our newest members lit the candle to the future, Past President Mary Pay lit the International candle. Past President Gloria Humphrey then said Grace. A 3-course meal was then enjoyed by all.
Greetings were then brought by District Chairman Jacquie Chapman who also had the honour of presenting the Margarette Golding Award to Warsop member Elaine Hopkins, who had recently been awarded the MBE in the Queens Honours List for her tireless work with The Royal British Legion and other Charity work. This had been a well-kept secret and Elaine was both shocked and surprised at the prestigious award.
The entertainment that followed was provided by The Moonshiners, a busking duo, who had lots of members hopping and bopping to the 6o' music. After Vice President Christine Parkin had given the Vote of Thanks to President Janet for the evening. APP Pam McConnell brought the greetings on behalf of the visitors. Our founder member Marjorie Zillwood, was celebrating her 80th birthday on the day of the Charter, The Moonshiners gave Marjorie a rendition of Happy Birthday, ably joined by all those present. A bouquet was presented on behalf of President Janet.
It was a lovely evening, filed with friendship and fellowship, wonderful to see all our friends, and to be able to celebrate, as we love to do.
