The Inner Wheel Club of Kuantan/Indera Mahkota contributed three units of Lenovo Tablets M10 HD and essential groceries to three underprivileged secondary school students in Kuantan, Pahang. Two of the three recipients are from Indera Mahkota 2 National Secondary School and the other from Abdul Rahman Talib Secondary School.
The recipients’ single mums had lost their source of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic and were unable to provide a tablet or laptop for their children. These girls even had to miss their online lessons often as one handphone had to be shared in turn among their siblings.
A generous contribution from Club members and donations collected from families and friends made this project possible. The Club members realise that education is key to a child’s progress, and felt happy to have been able to provide the three girls with learning tools to ensure their right to education.
Moving forward, this project falls neatly into the four pillars of Community Service Projects strongly championed by IIW President, Ebe Panitteri Martines, i.e., Health, Education, Opportunity and Empowerment. In continuing to carry out charitable projects, IWC of Kuantan/Indera Mahkota will uphold the IIW Themes for 2021/2022, Pink First and Strong Women, Stronger World.
