Fighting Poverty in Mexico

Young Victor Manuel Irineo is 15 years old and lives in Puebla. He belongs to a low-income family together with his grandmother and mother. Victor is suffering from autism spectrum disorder and Asperger’s syndrome since childhood.

Victor’s mom works nights cleaning trucks to support the family so that she can be with the family during the day to take care of everyone’s needs.

The grandmother needs a wheelchair when not confined to her bed.

The principal activity to help the family, consists of supporting them in improving their living condition, maintaining food supply and providing for Victor’s education.

The Inner Wheel Club of Puebla Angelopolis, District 418 is doing their part in the following ways:

1. Make a cover to close the water well that is at the entrance of the house. The open well is a risk for Victor and for anyone who enters and leaves the house.
2. Cement the internal entrance to his house. Whenever it rains, water runs in and floods the house with mud.
3. Provide a monthly food pantry that contributes to the family's nutrition.

Actions like these are needed to help with health issues and the fight against poverty.
