International Understanding is one of the objectives of Inner Wheel. The Inner Wheel Club of Subang Selangor (IWCSS) started this initiative around three years ago when its Charter President Parimala Satheesan enlightened her niece, Vanitha Manoj who is from Calicut, India about Inner Wheel’s voluntary work and ideology. Vanitha became the Charter President of IWC Calicut Central in 2019. Parimala supported and guided her in the initial stages of the Club’s setup.
After two years under Vanitha’s dynamic leadership and consolidating the Club, she handed over the reins to President Fouzia Mubashir for the year 2021-2022. IWC Calicut Central extended an invitation to IWCSS for the Installation of the President and Office Bearers for the year 2021-2022 on 2 August 2021. To commemorate the support given by Parimala, she was invited as the Chief Guest of Honour for this virtual event. Parimala is currently the Deputy National Representative of District 330 and District 331.
It was indeed a proud moment for President Indira Menon and members of IWCSS to witness Deputy NR Parimala Satheesan officiating the event. Rajani Vidyasagar, ISCSS ISO, facilitated the logistics for the Club’s participation. Immediate Past District Chairman Shanti Menon, District ISO Datin Pathma and the team of ISOs from District 330 also attended the event.
It was certainly very exciting and fascinating to witness the exchange of the President’s Jewel from outgoing President Vanitha Manoj to Incoming President Fouzia Mubashir and the solemnising of the office bearers. With the pandemic, the two Clubs could successfully participate in international events which otherwise would be difficult due geographical constraints.
IWCSS learnt of the various projects under IPP Vanitha Manoj that IWC Calicut Central has undertaken despite the pandemic.
President Fouzia has already hit the ground running with Calicut Central’s flagship project of ‘Go Green’ by donating fruit tree saplings to a school. In line with this year’s IIW theme of “Pink First”, the Club has also donated smartphones to deserving girl students.
IWCSS hopes to further strengthen this relationship and enhance cooperation between the Clubs. President Indira Menon has extended an invitation to IWC Calicut Central to attend a joint meeting on 29 August 2021 to work out collaborative programmes.
