In keeping with one of the objectives of Inner Wheel to foster international understanding, the Inner Wheel Club of Alor Setar (IWCAS) hosted a zoom meeting on 30 July 2021 in conjunction with International Friendship Day. The main aim of the meeting was to digitally sign a Friendship Club Agreement between IWCAS and the Inner Wheel Club of Kinabalu Rafflesia (IWCKR) under District 331, which would mark the beginning of true friendship that transcends borders. This Agreement would also enable two clubs, one in the north of District 330 in peninsular Malaysia and the other in the east District 331 in Malaysian Borneo to collaborate by encouraging personal service and supporting one another, particularly now when so many lives have been irrevocably changed for the worse due to the raging COVID-19 pandemic.
The digital signing by the President Dr. Pavitratha Puspanathan of IWCAS and President Audrey Chin of IWCKR, was witnessed by the Chairmen of both Districts, Datin Shamini Nair of District 330 and Datin Gillian Lee of District 331. The two Presidents also digitally exchanged each other’s bannerettes.
The meeting was attended by 29 members from both Districts, including the Inner Wheel Clubs of Singapore, Singapore East, Singapore Central, Singapore West, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Sibu. Members also enjoyed a virtual tour of Kedah, the “Rice Bowl State” of Malaysia and the state of Sabah, the “Land Below the Wind” as well as a semi-classical dance performance.
The camaraderie could be felt during the meet and both Clubs look forward to the opportunity to undertake programmes that would put PINK FIRST and help build STRONG WOMEN STRONGER WORLD.
