The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur from District 330 has been embarking on many Water Poverty Challenge Projects for the Orang Asli (indigenous people) settlements located at the state of Pahang and Perak, Malaysia this year.

Through the good office of DEC Juanita’s son, Dato’ Lee CH, a joint project between the Inner Wheel club of Kuala Lumpur and SMGB Corporation was initiated in the 3rd quarter last year to excavate 2 wells and Kampang Leleh (Leleh Village), located in Pahang, was the beneficiary of the wells.

This project has been carried out at different stages due to the numerous Movement Control Order (MCO) implemented by the Malaysia government: -

On 4th January 2021, the two wells were successfully constructed and handed over to the village with water tap stands installed and fully operational.

On 10th February 2021, the Club organised food supplies with the help of some generous friends of PP Ooi Bee Ngor. Packets of rice, chocolate, bottles of cooking oil, packets of sugar, can food, cartons of Julie’s biscuit, chocolate drinks, cartons of Sedap Instant noodle, cartons of sardines in tomato sauce were delivered to the settlement with the help of DEC Juanita Lee and Dato’ Lee CH.

The last stage of this project, a total of 95 units of the water filters are all prepared and projected to be delivered to the settlement on 30th June 2021. This is in anticipation that the Full Movement Control Order (FMCO) would be lifted on 28th June 2021.

Let’s hope and pray that the President is able to visit Leleh Village physically and to present the water filters to the people living there.
