Inner Wheel year of 2020-21 has been a challenge in many ways, but the Inner Wheel members have taken up the challenge and continued to serve the community.
In the month of May, the outgoing team of Office bearers usually gears up to hand over the responsibilities to the Incoming team which is a trend and norm each year. But this year the Clubs are not worrying about it and doing their bit to serve the Community.
As India grapples with Corona Virus Pandemic and scarcity of Oxygen, it was disheartening to hear COVID patients losing their lives due to lack of Oxygen.
During such times, the Clubs in India came forward and did their best. They may not be front line workers, but their contribution and dedication are worth mentioning.
Having planted several trees over the past decade, the members wanted to help in providing more Oxygen. At very short notice the members of IWC Adyar along with District Chairman Usha Saraogi of Dist. 323, donated 6 Oxygen Concentrators (project Oxygen on Wheels). The project was inaugurated by the Tamil Nadu Health Minister Shri M. Subramaniam and Health Secretary Shri J Radhakrishnan. A bus with Oxygen Concentrator facility will be stationed in the premises of the Rajiv Gandhi Govt General Hospital, Chennai, for the use of Covid patients who need oxygen and are waiting for admission for a bed in the hospital.
Truly the members are doing service and joining the crusade against the pandemic.
To help people in second Covid wave- In response to the appeal to donate money for Oxygen Concentrator machines to Municipal and Government hospital, Clubs from District 314 donated more than 15 lakhs and so far, clubs in District 314 have donated 26 oxygen concentrator machines. We also joined hands with Rotary District 3141
Clubs collected more than 45,000 kg E Waste in our District and so far, the collection agency gave us 1 lakh, out of that also we bought 2 oxygen concentrator machines and donated.

Many patients wait outside the Government Hospital of Thanjavur to get admitted in wards where they could get Oxygen support. To help such patients, Inner Wheel Club of Tanjore has joined hands with Thamarai International School recently. Two vehicles fitted with Oxygen cylinders and all the other life supporting equipment’s were handed over for use by Mr. T. Venkatesan, the Chairman of Thamarai International schools (TIS) of Thanjavur and Kumbakonam along with Mrs. Nirmala Venkatesan, the President of Inner Wheel Club of Tanjore to the District Collector Sri.Govindarao .
The vehicles would be parked in the premises of the hospital and they can be used at free of cost by the patients who are longing for ‘life support’.
Inner Wheel Club of Gorakhpur, in the ongoing pandemic donated 3 battery operated sanitizer machine and 3 hand operated sanitizer machine in some wards of city by volunteer groups so that they can protect themselves and the people around them.
Volunteers are equally working hard day and night. For their safety and the safety of the people around them, the Inner wheel Club came forward and donated them the Sanitizer machine.
Project—Door to door free oxygen cylinder supply
Due to covid many people are suffering and non-availability to beds in hospital they need oxygen at their home. So, members started distribution of oxygen cylinder to the needy at their homes with help of Red cross Jind. This help can save lives of many people in this time of crisis.
There was requirement of Oxygen Concentrators, so club has provided one for their use at the Old Age Home located in that area.
IWC Panchkula, Distt 308 has donated 3 oxygen concentrators to save lives of many to Panchkula Administration. The news was covered in most of the newspapers. This branded Inner Wheel widely.
They also purchased an Oxygen Concentrator for the family members of the Club if such need arises.
Started this initiative.
The club along with Rotary club Varanasi Central donated 50 electrical kettle, 500 packs of medicine,100 surgical masks to DM Varanasi, Mr Kaushal Raj Sharma for health workers at Covid Centre.
