The Inner Wheel Club of Forfar (District 1) launched its latest project only last month and already has been able to supply over 50 Recipe Bags of food to the local Food Bank. This “Christmas Project” involves members providing long life ingredients such as tinned stew, mince, hotdogs and vegetables as well as dry ingredients like rice, pasta or crumble mix. These are not just random items – for each “bag” contains the recipe and the ingredients to make a main meal for a family of four using a simple cooker.
The project is being led by the club’s President, Lynda Stobbs who has produced a selection of 10 easy recipes using basic store cupboard ingredients. Each bag has the appropriate recipe attached. These include – Macaroni Cheese, Cowboy Pie, Chili Con Carne and Hot Dog Pasta. Shopping is being organised by club members for those unable or unwilling to go out to the shops themselves right now. The first batch of bags was delivered on 20th November. The ladies expect to be able to fill many more bags before Christmas.
