A Much Needed Grant from Alor Setar

Yayasan Sultanah Bahiyah (YSB), or the Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation, is a charitable organisation named after its founder and first Royal Patron, Almarhumah Tuanku Sultanah Hajjah Bahiyah Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman. It is now helmed by YTM Tunku Temenggong Kedah, Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, as chairman. YSB acts as an agent of social change and provides financial grants to NGOs and Clubs which carry out charitable projects. The Inner Wheel Club of Alor Setar (IWC AS) District 330 Malaysia has been under YSB’s radar since 2018 and was awarded a financial grant in 2019 for the various activities that had been carried out.

IWC AS continued its endeavour to help and in spite of the pandemic, managed to carry out a number of activities, ranging from donating to help medical frontliners in Kota Setar to buy equipment and to the Lebanon fund, donating masks to the Pokok Sena prison, and sponsoring meals at the soup kitchen.

All these noble deeds did not go unnoticed by YSB. On 3 December 2020, YSB informed IWC AS that we have been successful in securing a second financial grant and a box of sanitizers. The cheque and the box of sanitizers were subsequently handed over to IWC AS representative, Tunku Zamharir, who was instrumental in getting the application across to YSB.

This recognition and assistance is indeed a welcome boost and motivation during what has been a daunting and tumultuous year of 2020.

IWC AS extends a huge vote of thanks to YSB.
