District 330 initiated, as one of the 2019-2020 Vision Programs, a friendly competition called ‘Blue + Yellow = Green’. It was done with a vision to encourage clubs to do projects bringing about Environment awareness and going green initiatives in their community. The program name was coined from Blue and Yellow, the colours of Inner Wheel, when mixed gives Green …very symbolic of our logo. The District collaborated with the Centre for Environment, Technology and Development Malaysia (CETDEM) to ensure independent qualified judging for the competition.
The project had to have a theme related to environment, and the main judging criteria incorporated these four elements:
• Community involvement;
• Educational value;
• Sustainability and potential for replication;
• Public awareness and education programmes.
They should be part of the project to ensure a catalytic effect of continuity. 18 clubs indicated interest in participating and 6 clubs succeed in completing their projects and submitting their entries by the deadline of 31st March 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions hit the country.
