A donation drive for fighting the Pandemic was kick started by PDC & ESO Jyoti Doshi and Rtn Rajas Doshi of Inner Wheel Club Bombay & Rotary Club of Bombay through Walchand Trust by donating 3 important equipment worth Rs 8,000,000 and RNA extraction kits to the tune Rs 2,095,920 to the Department of Microbiology, Grant Medical College & JJ Group of Hospitals.

The machines include:

1. QIA Cube Machine: which will help to extract the COVID-19 RNA virus from the oropharyngeal / nasopharyngeal swabs of suspect cases by an automated process at a rate of 12 samples /hour

2. QIA Symphony Machine: This is also to extract RNA of COVID-19 virus from the oropharyngeal / nasopharyngeal swabs of suspect cases.

3. Rotor Gene Q: This machine helps to make multiple copies of the extracted RNA so that they can be detected via the machine. The machine can generate reports of 96 samples in 2 hours.

These will help the hospital test 4000 patients suspected of COVID-19 totally free of cost.
