Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur unite in strength to battle Covid-19.
Rising above in times of crisis, Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur answers the call for help.
When the Corvid 19 epidemic broke out in Malaysia in early March 2020 the suddeness and the rapid spread shocked everyone of us. The Malaysian government and the health authorities had to take emergency measures which included a Movement Control Order (MCO) also termed a “Lockdown”
The severe effects of the viral infections and its rapid transmission made it necessary to set up public hospitals to treat the infected cases in designated public hospitals. It was projected that the hospitals did not have enough supply of ventilators and protective anti-infection equipment. An urgent request was made to the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur to donate a ventilator to th University Hospital. The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur raised RM34,400 by the Club and members and this donation helped to purchase a ventilator.
As there was the forced closure of non essential businesses and the resulting loss of jobs due to the MCO many wage earners were badly affected especially the daily paid. Many families could not afford to purchase food and therefore faced hunger. The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur assistance was solicited by the member of Parliament of Petaling Jaya. Our Club was able to raise RM8000 from the Club and members for this purpose.
Earlier on our Club had raised RM8000 to help the Myanmar Chin Community of 20 families.
In summary the Club is happy to report that during this challenging time, the Club and members have completed the following projects:
