Mushroom growing as a livelihood for women

Posted by | Dec 17, 2019 |

“We like them to feel what it is to be a free man”, these are the exact words of Past Pres Gladys B. Barbosa of IWC Uptown CDO, as she drove the 70.9 km 2 hours travel from Cagayan de Oro City to Claveria, Misamis Oriental, home to 20 families former rebels of Misamis Oriental.

She is there at Sitio Migbanday,  Claveria, Misamis Oriental together with DTI Division Chief Elsie Alcampado Lismonero and 1Lt Jefferson Mariano of the 58th Infantry Division to conduct a 2 day hands on training seminar on mushroom cultivation and mushroom processing last Sept. 13 – 14, 2019 , a livelihood project of IWC Uptown CDO which she spearheads.

The seminar will teach the rebel returnees on how to grow mushroom and mushroom processing (Mushroom crunch). This training will enable and help the rebel returnees to live a happy and normal life at the same time earn a decent living. This will also hopefully encourage other rebels who are still in hiding to return to home and to lay down their arms.
