Chairman of District 15 in GB&I, Cynthia Whiting, happily promoted her charity for 2018/19, Blood Bikes Wales, by getting togged up in leather jacket and crash helmet and climbing up into the saddle of one of the charities motorcycles. Her outfit was beautifully decorated with Inner Wheel logos.
Blood Bikes Wales is a voluntary organisation which provides an out-of-hours emergency motorcycle courier service to the hospitals of Wales. The NHS uses its own transportation system to move blood supplies, plasma, documents and other items between hospitals during the day on Mondays to Fridays. Blood Bikes Wales fills the gap between 7pm and 7am on weekdays, on weekends and on bank holidays.
Cynthia arranged for a speaker from the charity to attend our District Assembly to tell us about the life saving service they provide, and they kindly brought along one of the charity’s motorcycles. Cynthia “borrowed” the riders jacket and helmet, got decorating and delighted us all by hopping onto the bike. I think, given half the chance, she would have taken it round the car park for a spin!
