In India electricity has not reached to many remote areas. Also because of huge population available electricity is not sufficient to cater to their needs.
So Inner Wheel came forward to promote the use of alternate energy sources and donated solar lamps, solar street lights, solar panels, solar batteries, solar cookers etc.
This will make the life of villagers little easy as children can study and women can cook in evenings. Also it will add to their safety while going out at night.
Inner Wheel club of Mangalore East (District 318) donated solar lights to the villagers where there is a power cut. Children can study in the evenings and women can cook with these lights.
Inner Wheel club of Jalgaon East ( District 303) donated 5 street lights in a village Ringangaon where there is no electricity.
To promote use of alternate energy sources, Inner Wheel Clubs of District 301 came togather to donate Solar Panels for complete power requirements of Mother Teresa home for destitute in Delhi costing Rs. 6.5 lakhs.
District 305 gave vocational training to villagers to make eco-friendly solar lamps from used mineral water bottles. They also donated these lamps to the people staying in remote areas where there is no electricity.
