The UNICEF/World Health Organisation Global Hand Washing Day October 15^th  is an annual event that creates awareness on general hygiene.

Nigeria had an outbreak of Monkey pox in some states originating from Balyesa and spreading across the country. Lagos is a cosmopolitan mega city with high human traffic from all the other states and neighboring West Africa countries since it the commercial capital of Nigeria with a population of over 15 million people.

District 911 led by the District Chairman Gbemisola Rufai was at Alade market, Ikeja Lagos to sensitize traders on the need to always washing their hands at critical times to avoid the spread of diseases.

Alade market, Ikeja is located near the Lagos State Government Secretariat was chosen for the campaign. The event was covered by the print media for wider dissemination across the Lagos and neighboring states.
