A House for Parents

Clubs of IW District 920 in partnership with Rotary District 9220 work together on projects for children and families.

In October 2016, a partnership protocol of has been signed between Rotary District 9220 and Inner Wheel District 920 with the intention of working together on two joint projects focusing on children & families.

The 1st one consisted in a donation of food and clothes to “Princesses” day nursery in Antananarivo, Madagascar. This nursery welcomes for free numerous babies and children whose mothers work hard in stone quarries or in fields regardless of weather conditions. There, babies receive care and food instead of being carried on their mothers’ backs while working.

The 2nd project concerns the total renovation and furnishing of a new bedroom at “Kaz a nou”, part of Association “House for Parents” located close to the hospital in Saint-Denis Reunion Island. It offers free accommodation and meals to parents of inpatient children or adult outpatients receiving medical daycare, who live far away from hospitals, either in Reunion Island or other neighboring Indian Ocean islands. The main goal is to maintain family links during hospitalization.

On May 10th, the renovated room, named “Cardinal” was inaugurated in the presence of IIW Immediate President Charlotte de Vos, Board Director Nelly Bratoeva, Past Board Director Ashnadelle Hilmy Mortagy, Chairman IW D920 Jasmine Sery and Governor Rotary D9220 Dominique Pota, and many other Inner Wheel and Rotarian friends.

These joined IW & Rotary projects open a new chapter in the cooperation between Inner Wheel District 920 and Rotary District 9220.
