A summary of service projects by clubs and districts in Nigeria during 2016.
The Inner wheel year has been a very interesting one, especially with the visit of the IIWP Oluyemisi Alatise; which has been an inspiration.
Here are some of the heart warming and heart touching projects carried out across all the districts and clubs in the country thus far in this inner wheel year. They are presented district by district in no particular order of importance or relevance.
On the 23rd of July, 2016 the IIW President commissioned and supervised the donation of 56 school sandals and gifts items to the children of the Lagos State Transit Home. Also, the IW Club of Isolo visited and donated Food stuffs, and toiletries to 50 Expectant Mothers In Lagos State Nigeria.
The IIW President also commissioned a Joint project between D911 Nigeria, India, Pakistan, IIW President and Board Director from Australia. This joint project featured the donation of 160 portable solar energy lamps to indigent but brilliant secondary school students across Lagos and Ogun State between the 4th and 6th of October, 2016.
District 911 also took advantage of the IIW President to Commission the project of the newly chartered IW Club of LUTH project, by donating underwear to Lagos State Transit Home on 8th of October, 2016.
Then in November 2016, there was a skills acquisition training and empowerment for 40 beneficiaries after their training for six (6) weeks on different skills at the District 911 vocational center. Certificates were issued to successful candidates of the skills acquisition program on 1st November, 2016.
The district sponsored the payment of school and examination (WAEC) fees for five indigent students, organised skill acquisition training for indigent persons while, the IW Club of Garki visited and donated food stuff to the school of the blind. [See Pix 6-8]
District 914 visited the Home for the Destitute at Abakaliki and distributed wrappers to the inmates, IW Club of Abakaliki visited the Home for the Physically Challenged while the IW Club Awka organised widow empowerment at Awka. The district also visited and donated food items to the deaf and dumb inmates at Umuahia
