The residents of Elifli village, 84 km away from İzmir, has a livelihood of poultry husbandry and agriculture. Most of the population have migrated to big cities for a better living. The villagers who are left behind need help. The Inner Wheel Club of Atakent decided to support the village women.
The club members visit the village every month to encourage the villagers by buying their products and helping to improve the marketing of their goods. They showed the villagers how to earn a better income by preparing breakfast for the visitors.
Members assist the village women by providing them with new ideas, recipes and techniques to cook food and to make pickles, jams, preserves, gravies, pastes and to knit and sew trendy outfits.
The Inner Wheel members also brought along an accountant and an attorney to help the women solve their accounts and attend to matters like establishing a cooperative that will be very beneficial for them in the future.
