Inner Wheel Club of San Francisco del Monte participated in the launching of Brigada Eskwela (School Brigade) at Sapang Putik Elementary School in Bulacan. This project is being done by all public schools in the Philippines as mandated by the government through the Department of Education.
Since the start of pandemic last year, the education system was changed into remote learning through different modes. Students who have access to tools can attend online classes, or if not possible can learn through printed course pockets where students can get their printed materials from school, study and submit their assignments at a given period.
With this year’s slogan is “Bayanihan para sa Paaralan” (Working together for Schools), schools and their stakeholders are encouraged to act together and think of innovative ways on how to help students learn given the situation.
Immediate Past District Chairman Cynthia Reyes and immediate Past President Paulina Cuntapay gave inspirational message, encouraging teachers and students to continue learning at the same time giving the Club’s commitment to support the school on their needs.
Sapang Putik Elementary School is an adopted school of the Club for more than three decades. The project started with the installation of artesian wells way back in 1980’s. Through the years, the club improved their water facilities, ensuring teachers and students have access to clean and potable water through installation of water tanks and filters, and construction of water areas and lavatories.
The project evolved and expanded over the years. Education projects implemented include English Literacy training for teachers, donation of books, school supplies and teaching tools. Health project includes Proper handwashing and oral care, and eye screening and improvement of their vegetable garden.
