On 29 August 2021, the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL) was notified of a family’s intention to donate a month-old medical bed (with mattress), two commodes, a wheelchair, adult diapers and some bedlinen. The Club sprang into action, coordinated by IPP Caylize Ong-Sabado.
With member Angie Tai to assist, both of them saw to the transportation of the above items from Mr. Loi Hean Won’s residence, in Puchong, to the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ), a retirement home for the Sisters of that Order. Mr. Loi also handed over some bananas and papayas to be distributed.
Next, IPP Caylize and Angie headed for Sg. Besi to hand over the mattress to Mr. Yew Kim Wah and his wife. Both are in their seventies, extremely frail and depend on the generosity of the public to get by. They live on the third floor of a block of flats with no lift facility. IWCKL donated some grocery items and two members made a personal donation to help ease their burden.
IWCKL would like to record their thanks to Dato’ Tan and To Puan Nicole of Sydney Cake House for donating some garlic bread and Japanese cake to CHIJ and Mr. Yew.
It was an exhausting, not to mention back-breaking afternoon for the two members. IWCKL extends heartfelt appreciation to them. As always, IWCKL is happy to be of service to the community.
