Cancer Awareness Projects In India

National Cancer Awareness Day on 7th November.

According to WHO at least one third of the cancer can be prevented through regular check up and by building awareness. By regularly taking the recommended tests one can reduce the risk of cancer. As the disease is alarmingly on the rise in India, this special day was first observed in 2014 by Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Bardhan. Today children too are being afflicted by this dreaded disease and many are being nipped in the bud.

Clubs in Inner Wheel District 329 came on this day to do various projects:

Inner Wheel Club Jodhpur Park did an awareness programme on cancer awareness at different places, for two hours in the strong sun, explaining to the on lookers the importance of regular medical check-up to prevent Cancer. They distributed pamphlets, displayed posters and involved people on the street to spread awareness about this dreaded disease. They also distributed leaflets through the vendors.

Inner Wheel Club of Ballygunge contributed cheque of 300 pounds for Cancer Awareness at Thakurpukur Cancer Hospital for Children Ward.

On the occasion of INFANT PROTECTION DAY and WORLD CANCER AWARENESS DAY , Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta Junction has given holistic food and nutrition consisting of Ration Basket, Supplements, In-meals, Hot meals and fruits for one (1) month to 6 (six) underprivileged children fighting cancer through 'Cuddles Foundation'.

Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta Midtown handed over 300 PPE kits, 1,250 surgical masks, 30 sanitizers, and 300 N 95 masks to Swami Maharaja at Ramakrishna Seva Pratisthan.

They also handed over 300 PPE kits, 1000 masks and 2500 litres of sanitizers to Thakurpukur Cancer Research Hospital and Institute.
