Ladywalk 2019, Denmark

Posted by International Inner Wheel | Jun 05, 2019 |

Ladywalk is Denmark’s largest one-day event only for women. It is held every year on the last Monday of May. The event has existed since 2001 and the number of participants is increasing year after year.

More than 50,000 women of all ages participate nationwide in a common walk of either 7 or 12 km. It’s not about getting first but about getting a common experience in the beautiful nature.

Ladywalk’s goal is to be able to make the greatest possible financial support for disease affected women in Denmark.

Every year Ladywalk donates their financial profits to organizations, and in 2018 a total of DKK 1.2 million (£143,000) was donated to the Endometriosis Association and the Heart Association.

The profit in 2019 will be donated to the Psychiatry Fund and the Heart Association.

There are Ladywalk in 14 cities in Danmark and this year we are 389 Inner Wheel members from across the country attending these 14 locations.

At the individual starting locations there are trophies to win for the 3 largest registered teams. Last year, in 2018, Inner Wheel got a trophy in Aalborg for 2nd place and in Aarhus for 3rd place, and we were the largest registered team nationwide. We were really proud of that and still are and hope to be able to repeat the success this year.

The women get a backpack and a t-shirt with Inner Wheel logo. Beyond the social aspect it gives us an obvious opportunity to make Inner Wheel more visible and show our common power.

It’s great to be part of something big, while providing help and support to those who need.
