Dante's “Divine Comedy” - Foligno & Sydney

On Saturday, November 10th 2018, at the Municipality Council Chamber in Foligno (Perugia), Alessandro Masi, General Secretary of the Dante Alighieri Society, presented a special Award to the Municipality and the Inner Wheel Club of Foligno, for their work as "Cultural Ambassadors of the knowledge of Dante’s Divine Comedy in the world ". 


Franca Romagnoli, District 209 Treasurer  and member of the Club of Foligno illustrated the steps that led to this recognition, emphasizing the Inner Wheel aims: friendship, service, international understanding, culture and education. Therefore, in April 2018, on the occasion of the International Inner Wheel Convention in Melbourne, the IW Club of Foligno donated to doctor Fabio Carosone, the President of Dante Alighieri Society in Sydney a prestigious  anastatic copy of the first edition of the Divine Comedy, printed in Foligno in 1472.


The Dante Alighieri Society of Sydney will donate in turn the precious document to the National Library of the city, so that it can be made available to all interested people.
