On the 9th, 10th and 11th of September 2016, the Rallye Charlemagne (13th edition) took place in Ghent (Belgium). This Rallye is a triennial friendly IW meeting of all the countries that belonged to the ancient empire of Charlemagne (771-814) namely Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland.
The Rallye was founded by Anne Lebeau, first Belgian International IW president in 1980. The Rallye Charlemagne 2016 committee, under the presidency of Nicole De Maen, Immediate past national Representative and president of Council, was happy to welcome more than 500 IW members and their partners from all over Europe.
They enjoyed a three days stay in the region and discovered the old town of Ghent and other interesting parts of the Flemish country such as Bruges, Ypres, Oudenaarde, Brussels. The Rallye is always an opportunity to gather with old friends and to meet new ones thus boosting our IW engagement.
