Attending meeting of UN NGO committee of family 7.11.16
It was a proud moment for to visit UN HQ at Vienna to attend meeting of UN NGO committee on family as IIW Vice President, representing International Inner Wheel. International Inner Wheel Rep for UN - Ceja, a very competent & active on committee escorted me to the committee Meeting. I was introduced to the Chair & Board members present there.
Committee meets twice in a year. Guest speaker Dr Moiser spoke on Poverty in EU, it's causes.
It was eye opening to learn of statistics of Poverty in EU, in spite of so much help & security given by Govt.
Paper Presentation on Poverty in India & what IW Clubs doing 7.11.16
I was asked to speak on family life in India & poverty in India, it’s causes, what’s Indian Govts steps to alleviate it & the contribution of IW clubs in India towards alleviation of poverty.
Presentation was well appreciated & assured it to be published in next issue of bulletin & would be put on home page of UN NGO committee of family.
Meeting with both UN Rep of IW at Vienna 9.11.16
Met Ceja & Ulrike, UN Rep for IW at Vienna at various UN NGO committees, discussed over future plans to have better ways of working with UN Committees by IW Clubs.
Meeting with Dr Martina, Chairperson of UN NGO committee of status of women, 11.11.16
Ceja also planned my meeting with Chairperson Dr Martina of
UN NGO committee of status of women. She was having great appreciation of the work done in this field by IW clubs, all over the world. Committee is doing a lot for improvement on status of women all over the world.
Guided tour of UN City 11.11.16
Guided tour of UN city was also organized by UN Rep Ceja for me & NR Gabriele. It was a very knowledgeable tour, got to know of the working system at UN. A short video on Peace Summit 2015 held at UN, New York was also shown. Live session on UN - ILO was also seen as observers. Saw the art Gallery - Presentations to UN by various countries. UN City was built with the support of Austrian Govt way back in 1979, more than 4000 employees from many countries work here. It’s self-sufficient with its own huge cafeteria, bank & other facilities for its employees.
