IW Club Colombo, District 322, Sri Lanka, projects for May and June 2016.

During the month of May 2016 the IW Club of Colombo undertook a wide collection of service projects to help create Happier Futures Better Lives in their local community.

11th May – 5 projects in the Dehiathakandiya town which located in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka around 6 hrs by road from Colomb

Sri Indrasara Children Development Centre – This is a half way home for abused girls who are orphans. Donated 10 mattresses, care pack with toiletries, sanitary napkins and sheets and pillow cases.

Nikawathlanda Purwaramaya Temple –Donated 10 mattresses for the elders who live at this temple.

Salpitigama Salawana Ramaya Temple – Donated 10 mattresses to the inmates of this temple.

Amdehi Sandamadulla Maha Vidyalaya – Provided them clean water since this area has a CKDU (Chronic Kidney Desease) problem donated a Reverse Osmosis water filter which would give them around 1000 litres of clean water. The children can drink clean water at school and take a bottle home for their families. The water is contaminated in this area of the country and clean drinking water is scarce.

12th May - Kandy Elders Home- Donated 30 beds to this home.

22nd May – Flood Victims -Donated dry rations to the flood victims in the Biyagama area. Those areas had to accessed by boats.

28th May – Flood Victims - Donated medicines towards a medical camp run for 5000 walk in flood victims.

7th June – Cancer Hospial Hospice - Donated 5 tables, 24 chairs and 6 sofa type chairs to the Cancer Hospital hospice to the Female & Male sections. The poor people who come from far away cities cant afford accommodation while they are undergoing Chemotherapy and other treatments are housed here.

25th June- Flood Relief - Identified 75 families whose houses were totally underwater and who have lost everything they owned. We gave each family a set of a mattress, pillow and bedsheet.
