Inner Wheel Districts of Pakistan took an ambitious initiative in launching a campaign to “Protect Vision for Tomorrow” by organizing free Medical & Surgical Eye camps. A true manifestation of Inner Wheel’s theme “Touch a Heart”, eye camps were organised across the world on our call. This significant gesture is a step towards happier future better lives. Members of Inner Wheel joined hands across continents for this campaign. We are grateful to the following districts on organizing successful eye camps.

The Quetta Free surgical Eye Camp was organized by IWC Quetta (Dist. 327) from 28th October to 5th November 2016 at Mission Hospital Quetta. Since this Eye Camp is an annual event for many years now, underprivileged patients from cities outside of Quetta also travel to Quetta in these dates for the camp. A cheque was also donated to the MS of Mission Hospital where 850 patients were treated and 51 surgeries were done during the week.
Inner Wheel club Karachi Metropolitan (Dist. 327) organized an eye camp at Panah Shelter Home for Destitute Women. Forty ladies had a thorough eye examination by Dr Sharjeel Sultan and his team. Free spectacles and eye drops were provided. Panah trustees deeply appreciated the effort put in by Karachi Metropolitan Inner Wheel Club. PNR Nabila Sohail organised this event on Friday 4 November 2016.
To observe the World Sight Day, the lnner Wheel Club Karachi (Dist 327 Pakistan) organized the eye clinic for the low Vision children of the Ida Reau School. Head of the Khairunnisa hospital Dr Mazhar Awan accompanied by his team of six doctors representing the clinic committee investigated and advised the treatment of these children who needed help.
Inner Wheel Club Karachi Universal organised an eye Camp at LRBT where many students of SRSC were tested and treated.
Clubs of District 341 arranged Eye camps at different locations including Inner Wheel adopted schools. Medicines and glasses were donated by these clubs where required. IW Clubs of Lahore main, Sharqi, Garrison, Wazirabad, Jhang Sadar, Faisalabad and Sahiwal participated actively in the camps.
Inner Wheel Club of Sahiwal Central (Dist. 341), arranged a very successful eye camp of more than 200 patients in Farooq Memorial Hospital in Chichawatni. IIW Sahiwal helped in the eye surgery of 14 patients.
Inner Weel Club of Islamabad (Dist 342) organized multiple eye camps in multiple schools. Funds were raised for this cause and 24 eye lenses pairs were also donated. The event was a great success, the doctors checked more than 400 patients.
Inner Wheel Club Peshawar arranged Eye Camp at Spin Warray Village government school where free vision glasses and medicines were also donated. Eye specialist examined approximately 50 children with full eye checkup.
It was incredible how this initiative which was initially organised only on a small scale grew to become an international cause. We hope that next year we could execute this project on an even bigger scale with more countries and districts of Inner Wheel joining hands for this noble cause.
