«Endow Through Reading»

IW Club Shumen, D248, Bulgaria, have realized another successful cause of their campaign „Endow through reading” in February 2017.

Less than a year ago, IW Club Shumen started their charity project:  „Endow through reading”. The noble ladies from the club took upon themselves the great deed to hand down to young people love for reading and discovering new worlds through literature.  The Internet campaign became a national one and involved pupils from all over Bulgaria, thus helping literature meet charity through reading.

Reading can make miracles. And this was exactly what children did by reading books, working out tests and bestowing their credits on the second charity cause from www.chetidari.bg : An infusion pump for the Children’s hospital in Shumen.  This is a medical device used to deliver fluids into a patient’s body in a controlled manner. Infusion pumps may be capable of delivering fluids in large or small amounts, and may be used to deliver nutrients or medications.

Infusion pumps can administer fluids in ways that would be impractically expensive or unreliable if performed manually by nursing staff. For example, they can administer as little as 0.1 mL per hour injections (too small for a drip), injections every minute, injections with repeated boluses requested by the patient, up to maximum number per hour (e.g. in patient-controlled analgesia), or fluids whose volumes vary by the time of day. This is extremely important for the new born babies. More than 1300 babies need that every year in the Children’s Hospital in Shumen.

The motto of the cause: “Health care in the first days of life” inspired a lot of pupils to bestow their credits for the second cause of the project.

Four more causes are active in the web site and wait to be realized. The children will decide which one will be the next.
